These are mainly applications with digital process data or applications in which only a few analog process data are used. The system is supplied directly at the coupler. The field supply is connected via a separate power terminal. The CANopen bus coupler recognizes all plugged-in I/O terminals and uses them to create a local process image. The local process image is divided into an input and an output data area. The process data can be read in via the CANopen bus and further processed in a controller. The process output data is output via the CANopen bus. The data of the analog terminals are mapped into the PDOs in the order of their position after the bus coupler. The bits of the digital terminals are combined into bytes and also mapped into the PDOs. If the number of digital I/Os is greater than 8 bits, the coupler automatically starts another byte. The entries in the object directory can be mapped to the 5 Rx PDOs and 5 Tx PDOs as required. The entire input and output data area can be transferred with the SDOs.
